Privacy Policy
We built What's Happening Aruba to help you find great nights out, not to surveil them. This page explains exactly what data we collect, why we collect it, and what we never do with it. For how we source event listings and venue media (and how venues can request removal), see our Terms of Service.
What we collect
Below is the full list of data the app may collect, the purpose for each, and whether it's tied to your identity.

The app has no accounts. Data is tied to a random device ID the app creates, not to your name. Location is only used while the app is open, and never in the background. We keep location points for 90 days, then delete them. We do not combine or share your data across other companies' apps or websites for advertising, and we do not engage in tracking as defined under Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework.
What we never do
- Sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to event organisers, not to anyone.
- Track you across other apps or websites.
- Send you marketing email without your explicit consent.
- Collect your location while the app is closed.
Who we share with
We use a small number of vetted service providers to run the app. They process data on our behalf under strict contractual obligations:
- PostHog (United States), for product analytics.
- Sentry, for crash and error reporting (personal data scrubbed).
- Expo, Apple and Google, for app updates and push notifications.
- Mapbox, for maps.
- ip-api.com, to turn your IP address into an approximate country and city.
- Amazon Web Services (United States), for storing and delivering images.
- Our own servers, hosted in the United States, for the event database and the app.
- Clerk, for sign-in to the business portal used by venues (not the app).
Your rights
- Request a copy of the data tied to your device, in a portable format.
- Ask us to delete the data tied to your device. We'll do it within 30 days. Because the app has no accounts, we may ask a couple of questions to find your device's data.
- Choose which notifications you get in the app under Settings, Notifications.
- Withdraw any permission (location, notifications) at any time in your device settings. Deleting the app stops all collection.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll notify you in the app before the changes take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the latest version.
